Large-scale Russian Assaults Cut Power In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian aerial assaults have led to electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were wounded while local people in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has increased assaults on electrical systems over recent weeks, while the country's government has requested "concrete actions" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but strong steps - from the America, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and implementing restrictions," he wrote in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen missiles struck energy facilities, describing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were working to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles hit energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people hurt in the assaults on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.

Area administrators said the city came under intense attacks overnight. A seven-year-old child died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The strikes come after periods of air raids in the region, parts of which are occupied by invading troops.

The entire country is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to detect.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the national power system, with strikes already impacting gas facilities.

He said utility staff and authorities were bracing for additional strikes.
